What kind of run time do the onboard gensets get? Just curious.
Great question, not sure yet, but now on hot days (like today) if we are traveling we run both roof AC’s to keep the coach cool until we can get hooked up. But down the road (next RV) we will do some dry camping so it could be a lot longer parked running other things (TV, microwave, electric skillet and so).

I have a question or anyone else. I am just figuring out how to manage my 6500 Cummins/Onan LP 240V gen. After being out playing for the day and wanting to cool down the RV It kept kicking out trying to run two AC's and even one for a bit. The Inverter for the Frig really draws the juice! Is there a way to isolate it until I get the RV cooled down?
Thanks - xaugievikeExplorerWhat kind of run time do the onboard gensets get? Just curious.

In that case, go for the 8k, definitely - AAFDExplorerAll the units Im looking at have induction cook top, Not sure about the inverter but I can ask.

Ad on question, is it worth 1800 for a 8k diesel gen set?

You will not need such a large generator unless you really have some power intensive loads, such as electric stove, or have a habit of lighting up a large area.
Even 3 air conditioners are OK with 6 KW. Each will consume about 1400 watts max on a really hot day, and around 3000 watts for 2 seconds while starting. Because it is a diesel engine, it will not slow much while starting the second or third A/C unit, even if the microwave is running.
Will the RV have a inverter?
Will that inverter power just the microwave, TV and what living room receptacles? Is there circuit breakers on the inverter? Many have a pair of 20 amp circuit breakers mounted to the inverter, to run the microwave on one, and living room receptacles on the other. Usually you can run just the TV and a couple of other receptacles.
With the inverter, it is drawing power from the batteries, then making 120 VAC out of the 12 VDC. You will be limited in power, and don't want to run any larger loads, other than perhaps the microwave. You should be able to plug in a laptop, and watch a movie that way, it saves a lot more power than running the larger front TV.
Have fun looking at the new units!
Fred. - JEBarExplorerwhen our 5er was built they installed two 15K BTU AC's and a 5500W Onan generator .... at first we couldn't run both .... the Onan has 2 30amp breakers and they messed up at the factory wiring it so both AC's were running off the same leg .... once we corrected that and put one on each leg, no further issues
- TrackrigExplorer IIWhile it's always nice to have more power than you need, I'm not sure you need it. On our 7.5KW Onan in a 40' DP, we average 23 - 30Amps with both ACs and other misc. I don't think we've ever used above 50A, maybe if we run the two ACs, hotwater heater on electric and the microwave.

KC - TrackrigExplorer IIOur two 15K A/C only draw 23 amps per the power panel when running the generator. You'll have no problem with the 6 KW generator. If you run a 1500W microwave, TV, and 1500 hairdryer along with the two A/Cs, you could be pushing it.
