Question about Reese Adapters

I just bought a Reese 7 Way Blade to 4 Way Flat adapter for my 2015 Honda Pilot, with factory installed hitch and wiring plug.

The adapter fits loose on the plug. There didn't seem to be any resistance when bottoming out the adapter. Is this normal? The plug cap has a small stub that will prevent the adapter from falling out but I am concerned about a good electrical connection when driving.
