I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 2WD that has Firestone Transforce AT 245/75r16's on it. The tow vehicle has both towing and camper package on it (extra leaf springs). The tires are now 7 years old and have about 30K miles on them but are developing cracks in the sidewalls. In short, it is high time for new tires.......... Thanks to all who contribute. -Dewey
Sounds like someone at some point down sized your tires. My 2001 with Camper package also came with optional 265/75-16R E's good for another 373# capacity ea. I run Michelin MS+2 265/75-16 E's. Great traction and going on three years.
The VIN sticker still stated 245's, but I got the build sheet from Chrysler and stated Camper and tow packages, with optional 265 tires.
Nope. I bought the vehicle second hand, but I've got the original window sticker, which lists the standard and optional equipment.
Under standard equipment, it lists LT245/75R16E BSW All Season
Under optional equipment, it lists:
Camper Special Group: Stabilizer Bar-rear, and Springs-rear auxilary
Trailer Tow Group:
Heavy Duty Service Group: Alternator 136 AMP, Battery 750 Amp maintenance free, Cooler-Auxilary Transmission Oil.
Interesting:h
Looking at the build sheet I got from Chrysler, it does show the larger wheels (16" X 8"), and the 265/75-16E's as separate options, all this time I thought they were a part of the camper package.
