Lol...funny you mention the protective gear! I just recently watched a video of a relative of mine, skydiving. Yup, pretty tough boy, only wearing goggles for protective gear. He said free fall was about 125 mph, and it appeared in the video that the wind was going to tear his face off! Helmet was optional, which he said he'd be wearing the next time.Bobbo wrote:

To folks not familiar with this type of motorcycle, high speed sounds death defying. They do not feel like you are going as fast as you are.
Physics doesn't care how it "feels." You are going as fast as you are, and Darwin's laws apply.
(And, in case you think I am just a "Nancy," I was a skydiver for 9 years in my youth.)
So let me get this straight, going terminal (122mph?) while falling to earth likely wearing no protective stuff other than maybe goggles before you even know if the 'chute will open normally or birds nest, line twist, etc., etc., is sane and reasonable, high speed on a vehicle with steering and brakes while wearing protective gear is not.
Me...top quality Shoei full face helmet, Technics perforated leathers with protective cups, and built in back/collarbone brace, and protective 6" high street racing shoes.
Anyway, lots of ways to get an adrenaline rush, some safer than others. At least not much traffic when skydiving, unless you hit a flock of geese! ;)

Pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot........ - Grit_dogNavigator^ Of course not. And my previous post may have been a bit harsh, targeting people's intentions. ALOT of people in this world simply do not have the wherewithall to even recognize or process anything going on outside their own little world.
IE: "I'm on vacation, so this must be a vacation road." - drsteveExplorerThere is a scenic drive in N Michigan that runs along Lake Michigan for a couple dozen miles, very popular with visitors. It also gets a fair amount of traffic from the local remodelers and contractors due to the pricey homes lining this road. It is almost impossible to pass on this road.
The road is very narrow, curvy, and slow going, especially if you're gawking at the amazing views of the big lake or checking out summer cottages that are nicer than most people's homes, but do you you think the tourists will get over and let the guys with the ladder racks on their trucks pass? Nope. - Cloud_DancerExplorer III really shouldn't read any more posts. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps driving is the most dangerous thing that I do....????
- Grit_dogNavigator@ myredracer, yeah totally get the speeder uppers as you’re trying to pass them crowd as well.
The main issue here is entitlement and it ain’t just a snowflake disease! Lol
I, and I imagine others, do not feel entitiled to my spot on the road. I do however feel “drivers” in general should move by what is predominant for the masses.
I may pass you, but I’m not mad about it, just in more of a hurry. You may drive slow and I’m not mad about it, but there are rules and etiquette to follow on the road.
And once you’re so clueless or intentionally being obtuse by holding up traffic, YOU feel entitled. Plain and simple. Once you drive x amount under the speed limit for a significant distance and then speed up as you’re getting psssed, you’re acting entitled.
When these things happen and you’re upset by it (as the slow driver), YOU have issues.
I drove slow plenty of times Depending on conditions, loads, or where I’m going. But when I’m doing 50mph with the camper on, through the mountains enjoying my day off and a couple vehicles catch up, I’m quick to speed up, pullover, slow down to let them pass efficiently. Because I realize there are more people than just me on the road and they may have more urgent things to attend to than reading the capacity plate on the back of my camper! - hotpepperkidExplorer

So, you're on a highway with a posted speed limit of 65mph and lanes 2,3 & 4 are pacing at that speed. Meanwhile, you are cruising along in lane #1 at 90mph. You look in the rear view mirror and see another vehicle gaining on you quick, doing 110mph. What would do? Would you slow down to 65 and merge into lane #2, or continue cruising at 90, thinking the person behind you is reckless and being a butthead, and continue on your merry way?
Answer honestly!
I give it more gas and get in front of the guy to the right of me so I can be courteous to the person who wants to go faster. Also puts a cop magnet in front of me more likely to be pulled over. Never take anything personally, getting mad at a faster driver is ridiculous. I also don't get close unless someone has had a chance to pull over and let me by. Brake checks on interstates cause many people to have to slow quickly, idiots brake check and speed up to keep you from passing.
X2. Exactly my response to that situation.
X3 I'll drink to that, but have been known to drink to most anything:B - BobboExplorer II

So, you don't get the buffoons that tool along like the toolbags they are at 35 in a 50 zone on the 2 lane, around all the curves and over the hills and other blind-spots, until they get to the passing zone? Then they anticipate your going to make a pass when they get to the passing zone or other place its safe to make the pass, and their right foot suddenly gets heavy and they turn into John Force? Never happened to ya? I've also had dumosses wait until I was in the other lane beside them making the pass then speed up, a few times with oncoming traffic up ahead.
Wife and I get that all the time.
Even had one guy speed up 20 mph so I couldn't pass when there was the extra lane for passing.
I get by him and he flips ME off and he follows the wife and I to a restaurant. My wife said to let her handle it lol. NOW he's in trouble. He said he would blow our f'ng brains out. Guess he didn't know he was in AZ and legal to carry when I lifted my shirt up. He left in a hurry
How about the guy that's going 5 over with the extra passing lane so you fall in behind and when it goes back down to a single lane and he slows down 5 mph?
