Rain cover over roof vent

Vent covers were about the easiest RV accessory I've every installed.

Another bonus is that if you get rough weather with hail - those take the damage, not the actual vent.

Changing the actual vent is a real PITA.

On mine, there is (and needs to be) Dicor (it could as well be Eternabond, but I happen to have Dicor) to seal the flange of the vent to the rubber roof. The tabs for the vent covers are raised a bit above the Dicor, and the vent cover on them. This does leave a little gap between the cover and the roof that lets pine needles in to collect on the screen in the vent.

The vent covers are well worth having. I would not have an RV without them, unless perchance it did not have skylight vents to cover for some reason.

The other advantage other than being able to have your vent open in the rain is if the lid cracks and falls apart it is not a mini disaster when your on trip.

I went the Eternabond route with mine.

I have one I need to get the 20 minutes it takes to install one (including gathering the tools...).

I do have a question, do you guys let the metal bracket that attaches to the roof vent sit on the rubber roof, or does it get raised ever so slightly off the roof?

Or use the eterna bond (or similar) around the roof vent first, so the bracket sits in the eterna bond?

One of the best RV accessories out there! Nothing better than leaving the vents wide open in storage and not worrying about even wind blown rain getting in your trailer.

I have the Fantastic Fans in my coach and bought their new covers, designed for their fans. What I really like about them, is that once they're installed, like other covers, they have four pull pins that let you easily remove the cover to clean inside.

If you are slightly handy with basic tools (drill, screwdriver, wrench, etc.) it's a piece of cake. Plenty of YouTube vids on how to install.

Just put two on this morning took about 30 minutes.

If you have the fantastic vent they have a new cover out called the ultra breeze. Check it out on the Camping World web site. Installation is even easier than the one shown.

I silicone seal mine to the rim of the vent. Use enough so some comes through the bolt holes in the vent and push the silicone down to make sure it holds the vent well.
