ready brake install

Has anyone installed a Ready Brake braking system in a GEO Tracker? It says to dril a hole in the firewall for the internal cable conduit but it says not to drill into a double wall fire wall. I'm having problems finding a single wall fire wall beneth the brake pedal. I tap around and it sound hollow. Any suggestion on proper area of the fire wall? Thanks 2nz
  • Some firewalls are not completely flat. Some have areas that are recessed where both panels of the firewall are pressed together (no air gap between the 2 panels. On my Jeep Wrangler, I drilled through one of the recessed areas and I had no problem installing the brake cable.

If your firewall does not have a recessed area near the brake pedal, then I suggest you call Ready Brake. I am sure they will be able to help you. They were very helpful to me when I installed my system back in 2007.

    Wishing you the best.

  • Well I just installed mine last month (on a 96) my first pilot went into the wheel well real close to the seem. I then moved it over about a inch and drilled right through. At this point it did not go through a double wall. (I guess I was lucky) I wound up using the original mistake for the BREAK-a-WAY. So far so good I have only test drove and everything seemed to work fine. We are heading to Yosemite tomorrow and that will be the real test.... Best of luck on your install...
