Reserve America lists places alpha only, not closest first

I did it both ways.. started typing in springfield, il and the option for that location popped up. I clicked on it to enter it as the search location. On one try I just entered camping & lodging and then Rv sites...closest one came up first. Then tried ti by entering rig size, dates and etc. Same results.

Are you typing in springfield, IL USA or are you clicking on the words SPRINGFIELD, IL USA? If you are typing in springfield, IL USA, that's the problem. You can't type it in, at least I can't. You have to select Google's suggestion.

Even if I type it in exactly the way Google has it listed, it still doesn't work. I have to click on SPRINGFIELD, IL USA and then it works.

I do use "springfield, IL USA" as the google search returns. I also don't put in too much info...just a location.

I contacted RA to see if they have any info.

I'll keep playing with it.

No you aren't. I've never used Reserve America in the capacity you are. But I went there to see if there was something you were missing. I noticed with every location I typed in, like brunswick, ga or greenville, sc, the search returned:

Followed by a list of campgrounds in alphabetical order. If I went to the search and slowly typed in greenville, sc the dropdown pre-populates with Addresses powered by Google. The first one was GREENVILLE, SC USA. If I select that and search, it gives me a list of campgrounds listed by distance from Greenville.

If I were to type in GREENVILLE, SC USA, exactly like Powered by Google listed it, it returns an alphabetical list of campgrounds.

That was my experience using the latest version of Google Chrome on Windows 8.1. Your mileage may vary.

Most likely, you're putting in too much information. When I simply put in "looking for an RV site" with no options, it gives Sanchris as the first option. If I put in options such as size, hookups, ada, sewer and pets it changes. As you change your parameters the locations also change. Try a search without any options selected and see if it corrects itself.

I logged into my account to see if there was a "sort" box and there is none, so I can only assume it has to do with the parameters you're feeding into the site....Dennis

That's odd. I've been using Reserve America for over 10 years....and it was always closest first. This weekend, it was Alph only. Sanchris is the closest...

Wonder why on my home pc and work pc they do not do closest and now only show alpha?

It appears I'm the odd guy out ..........

Another option is RV Parky, they also have a nice mobile app. I believe it will give you more options than you will find on Reserve America.

All my searches show availability starting with the closest first.

just for giggles I searched for an RV site for a 35' RV for 3-nights beginning April 20th in Springfield, IL. the results were oriented by distance...the first being Sangchris Lake State Recreation Area.

try changing the supplemental information such as arrival date, flexibility, length of stay and so on to see if that makes a difference.
