- Grit_dogNavigatorSometimes yer the bull, sometimes ya get the horns!
- down_homeExplorer IILand Between The Lakes many years ago had a her confined behind heavy heavy cable fencing.
There was another or perhaps the same herd that we drove through the middle of.
I don't thin, now any huge males were in that herd but still came up to the roof of the car. It took some time get through them, we didn't want to sound the horn, of course. They can be as tame as cows, which sometimes can be not that tame but for whatever reasons can get really rough. - BB_TXNomad"You can't roller skate thru a buffalo herd"
Loved Roger Miller. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIWe had taken a back road to circumvient some of the tourist traffic in Custer National Park when we saw a Mother & Calf buffalo so we stopped along side the road for a photo op.
Soon we were surrounded by other Mom's/Babies that stood there facing us....front/rear/both sides and there were NOT moving along.
Just standing there snorting.
held us hostage for about 20 minutes when one Mom turned and walked away....then the rest followed suit.
For a time I thought I was going to have to explain HOW the large dent in truck occurred But....they let us go unscathed. - Johno02Explorerdeleted.

huge +1 - 2chiefsRusExplorerWe got surrounded by bison in Yellowstone last month for about 30 minutes but we were on our Harley not in the RV. No where to hide either on the Harley or off. Just held our breath, stayed quiet and didn't make eye contact.
- Campfire_TimeExplorer""Oh man, there goes some money," someone in the car remarked, noting they had not gotten rental car insurance."
Hmm... Renting a car with most major credit cards automatically adds the insurance as a benefit. My car insurance also covers rentals. My agent told me a long time ago to never buy the additional insurance.
That said when we were there a herd casually walked past us on the road. Some were so close I could have reached out and touched them. It certainly freaked my daughter out! - BarabooBobExplorer IIII also got stuck in a bison herd on a motorcycle. For me, it happened in Custer SP in SD. I just sat there and took some great photos of Bison at about 1 foot away. One Bull stopped right next to me and looked at me. Talk about a pucker moment.
