Spray something with WD-40, then let it sit for a couple of months. It will get VERY tacky and sticky. Never use WD-40 for lubricating. It may work right then, but down the line, it makes the problem worse.
For a penetrating lubricant, get PB-Blaster. For lubrication, get a silicone spray (and one IS sold under the WD-40 name), or a light oil.
