Looks like you can remove the old lap sealant, clean the area with turps and tape and re-seal. Eternabond comes in 6 inch widths which looks like what you need. For the record, that is one ugly hack job.
To verify that's your only issue, I recommend find someone near you that can run a seal-tech test on the camper.
