RV at the Drive-In Theatre

I contacted my local drive in before taking the truck camper. Worked out great.

Yup, there are still a bunch of drive-ins around but a lot of them will be closing quite soon because after the first of the year, movies will no longer be distributed on 35mm film.

All of the movies will be distributed on DVD or on the web and special digital projectors will be required. The cost of conversion will be ~$75,000 per theater.

Recently Honda Motors held a contest and awarded digital projectors to nine drive-in theaters; one of these was the McHenry Drive-in in McHenry, Illinois.

Its their policy and property, and clearly stated on their website. And security checks out the car on the way in. In Ohio, you can't bring your own booze into a bar or food into a restaurant if the premises have a food license and/or liquor license.
Other states have different rules. In Florida, at least when I was stationed there, up until 2AM you had to buy booze by the shot, but after that you could bring your own bottle if the bar had a "bottle club" license. They kept your bottle behind the bar with your name on it and sold setups. There were several occasions when I walked out of the bar into blinding morning sunlight.

We've talked about a projector at the campsite.. maybe someday. Starlight sounds like a rip-off. There's 3 drive in's in KC all operate the same. $10 per adult and can bring food etc. Only things no open fires. There's alot around the US still just have to do a good search.

We haven't been to a Drive-in movie in almost 30 years. They are rare, but it used to be a monthly event with a big family all crowded into the vehicle. My parents started the tradition in the 50-60's and DH and I carried it over to our young family. We always brought our own drinks in an ice chest and own buttered popcorn in a huge paper bag.

Now we can sit in our RV and put on 3D glasses and watch a 3D Blu-ray DVD. Just bought Ironman 3 in 3D this morning. Guess what we're watching later tonight!

how would they know if you brought your own food?
I would not volunteer that info, whats in my vehicle is not their business
