Along time ago someone posted the RV Food Chain. I know that I'm at the bottom of it, but I forgot the order. We own a half ton truck, palomino real lite 1603 popup TC. I think that I am just above a pull type popup camper. If someone could list the order I would appreciate it. This is just for fun only.:)

In another forum "To B or not to B", I made a post about RV "labels." I think I got side-kicked pretty good with my response, but it did get me to thinking.

All this talk about Class - A, B, C, B Plus, makes me glad I have NO Class! I own a travel trailer. So I guess I fall into a special interest group, "The Class impaired"!

So all most all of us progress from Tent camping and no one wants to answer. So I Started out camping Sleeping in the car then got a tent several year of tent camping and Jumped to a travel trailer (I could not see spending the money on a pop up a upgraded tent for the cost IMO) Then we bought a New 5th wheel which we still have, and like another poster said I think this is the top for us We will go to a smaller camper as soon as the kids are grown. IT IS A PAIN TO PULL AROUND VERY FAR. We have a 30'+ 5th wheel and a 25' TT that sits at the lake and we seem to use the TT most. But I will build a cabin when I find someone that wants to give me some money!

Society today seems to be about bigger, faster, stronger. Gotta have a new house, new car, always something new.

Our experience in the last 22 years of RV'ing is that, MOST, not all, of the people that have the monster 500k coaches dont even step outside to breathe the fresh air. What's the point? Might as well stay home.

A large portion of " campers " are out to enjoy the same things... The beauty surrounding us, getting away from the rat race, spending time with friends and family, and so on. We dont believe there is a food chain, and the people that think there is, well that's their hangup. We prefer not to frown on anyone, no matter what they are
" camping " in. For us, it's all about being free, be it for 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months.

We too, hate lugging around a fifth wheel. We would be a a 24' Class C, but DH is over 6' and, been there, done that, would never work for fulltiming next year.

JMO. Good luck with your " study "

Safe travels to all.

Place on the food chain is either a measure of happiness or measure of wealth. We made babies in a tent. When we camped the babies slept between us. We moved them into a pop up then a "C". Soon they will be making babies in a tent. Life comes full circle. I'd say we made the top of the chain, or loop rather.

Being this is for "fun" here is my opinion. Not saying this is right, just my opinion.

The so called "food chain" in the end is whatever makes someone happy.

When people get into RVing it is the human nature to always want bigger and better. Then after some time(years for some) you get what makes you feel happy. I can tell you I don't enjoy pulling around a big 5th wheel. Gets to be a hassle. We are probably the happiest right now with a small class C. Go about anywhere, stop anywhere, come and go as you please. But that is "for" us. Could we full time in it...Yes but we wouldn't be happy, not enough room. Would we be happier in a big MH, maybe. But we wouldn't be able to enjoy some of the places we like that are small.

Another some people think that biggest size or amount of money spent will make them happy. Seldom turns out that way.

So in the end...Whatever makes you happy, but you might have to go thru several RV's to find what works for you.

That's just awful in my view. I thought we as a society had progressed from this sort of thing.

There is a saying from back home

....There are folk as good as us, but none any better"....

We should all live with this thought.

Recognizing an RV food chain would only be for the elitist who want to think they are at or near the top.

We have a 40' DP and frequently park next to tents, pop-ups, trailers, etc. As far as I'm concerned we all share the same status. We're all just campers out enjoying the great outdoors.

"Food chain" as used here is slang for ranking or status in a particular group.

I could but I won't. I don't want to outlines any "food chain" in the world of camping, even in fun.

Today, there was a late model 40 foot motor home, class A, in one site.

Right next door in the next site was a small, and I mean a small, one man tent.

Does not matter.

The view is the same for both and both are "campers", so that makes them special.
