Just filled up at the usual station yesterday, a high volume station. Has now dropped from the peak at $3.89 to $3.85.

With great power comes great responsibility.

While it may be fashionable to question the patriotism of those we disagree with, at the end of the day it is un-American.

Our diesel fuel has dropped at some stations, as low as $3.839. Others still in the 3.90s and as much as 4.199 just a few miles in either direction. That's close to $14 difference/tankful. $2.90 now sounds like a bargain. Yippee yippee...well, you know the rest. :S

Wow! Gasoline prices dropped from $3.99 to $3.89 in my area. First time I can remember it dropping 10ยข a gallon. Usually the price is going in the opposite direction.

In other words keep the guys in that want to stop the oil entitlements.

Drill where it is reasonable and make sure the oil people are not allowed to repeat the BP disaster.

I sure wouldn't want my snowbirds and I to face the nice beaches in La and Miss with oil slick on them again!

I have noticed that gas is coming down here a little. Drove by the station I often stop at and gas was down from 3.84 down to 3.75 and diesel was down from 4.06 to 3.99. I know that this is not a big drop in price but just maybe it will continue to drop over time. It is hard to predict just what it is going to do. The American people sure could use a break. Maybe if our president would stop worrying about every country in the world and stop sending money that we do not have to all of them and start focusing on America and put America first things might improve. But You and I know that is not going to happen. Time for a new president in 2012.

The easy way is to NOT give subsidies to companies in the first place. If we want to benefit gas consumers then give a direct subsidy to gas consumers. Cut out the middleman.

Fezziwig, I tend to agree, with explanation. Our tax code is a product of K Streeters representing their various clients' interests over the years and our electeds failing to represent ours. As I understand it the oil companies pay more than many other major firms, GE and Target have been mentioned as making large profits and paying less/no taxes. I'm of two minds when it comes to foreign owned firms. Certainly, we wouldn't want to see the foreign car manufacturers close their U.S. plants because we single them out for higher taxes. If we limit the discussion to taxes, yes, the code is a mess. I'd like to see even handedness across the board, with rare exception, for profit making companies and a hard look at non-profits, as well. I'll hold my breath if you will. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lest anyone believes I'm defending Big Oil, my point is that some pols know that attacking corporations deflects many voters from thinking, actually thinking, on their own, about how we came to our failing economy. There are many causes, but past decades of prodigal Uncle Sam's behavior certainly has gobbled a big slice of the pie. Pols know that newspapers and television is dished out at an eighth grade learning level and that, therefore, dog and pony shows work in a large percentage of the population. We all, on the left and the right, need to take a breath, find areas where we can compromise, and insist that our leaders act responsibly, beginning right now, because we are at the end of our economic rope.

Simple, just like anything else. "If you can't afford it, don't buy it".

When the cost of fuel (diesel in my case) becomes to high for me to travel in my rollin' condo, I will stop traveling.

Since the first fill up of my unit (5/25/05 at $1.92 a gallon) until the most recent (4/18/11 at $4.55 a gallon) I have consumed 11,933.5 gallons at a cost of $34,628.22, while driving 86,633 miles.

FWIW a few years ago, I paid $4.63 (5/27/08, Flying J, Indianapolis, IN) a gallon and kept on, "keeping on"!

As my Dad, who lived to be 98 said, "The ONE thing you NEVER see in a funeral procession is an armored car. You CAN NOT take it with you!"
