RV manufacturer tour video I found interesting

It's Sunday morning and I'm not doing much except looking up "stuff" on the internet.

I decided to explore ThorIndustries and drilling down into their web site been looking at all their child companies and their various brands of RV.

I came across Highland Ridge and decided to watch their 2016 Factory Tour YouTube video (19 minutes long), and was really impressed.

I've had privilege to do a few manufacturer factory tours personally, so when I came across this video, I thought it was very well done.

Now, granted, for public consumption, it might be "beefed up" a bit and doesn't show the "frinzie" that really happens in these manufacturing plants, but one thing it does show you, is all the small detail "stuff" and "work" that goes into a typical RV.

Watching this video makes me realize how MUCH really goes into putting together an RV. Highland appears to be a bit more picky, but that's what makes a higher-end RV, ... well ... higher end I suppose.

Anyway, considering this was done in 2016, you might have seen it already. However, if you have found yourself incredibly board this morning with the December weather, cold, rain, snow, no sunshine, and a good number of us with no where to go today, and you've NOT seen it before... here's something that might brighten your day.

I'm not expecting any criticism on this. After all, I didn't make the video, I'm just passing it along! But if you want to make a comment, well, go right ahead! Enjoy and have a happy Sunday!

By the way, Highland Ridge RV manufacturing is in Shipshewana, Indiana.

  • I'm wondering if the huge hole ripped into the side of my bathroom vanity for water pipe to toilet access that snags the shower curtain was part of that detail work mentioned....

Nice video. I don't know why they did not use the same construction process for the side walls as they did on the floor, that would have eliminated delamination completely rather than just minimized it. I liked the box structure used on side walls much stronger per wt than I beam or C channel, but they used I beams for main frame rather than box beam. Is PVC roofing more durable than TPO? Over all they had a nice assy process with sufficient tooling all hand routing no NC equipment. I must be bored also.
