RV Mattresses

Here are some mattress posts.

been there, done that. very hard to find stores that have short queen's in stock, yet alone even available. Several friends had updated to some of the less expensive RV mattresses with marginal success.

In our S&B house the family room has a hideabed with a air dream air over coil spring mattress. When visitors used it the commented on how good the mattress was and were amazed. So, we tried it a few times and agreed, it was very comfortable.

So..... we bought the air dream for the trailer about 8 years ago and have been very happy with it. Downsides are:

1) make sure you deflate it before you travel!!! you don't want it full then go for a change in altitude. It very well could get overinflated and spring a leak.
2) in needs 120V to pump up.... so either you need 120V, generator, or inverter.
3) there are two versions. one requires you to unzip one corner of the mattress cover to inflate/deflate. the other has a wand to inflate deflate, and of course that version is more expensive.
4) it isn't meant to be folded when inflated so we always partially deflate before getting anything from the underbed storage. Would it hurt it? don't know but don't want to find out.

If you go this route you want the queen XL, it's actually the short queen.

Probably somewhat similar to the sleep number bed, but way less expensive.

Reason for the change? If you just want to swap it because “it’s time”, and you like how it sleeps, then can you get another like it? If you want a better bed, you might try some of the online stores that offer free returns. Years ago we tried a “Bed in a Box” and it was great.

Sinus brand on Amazon. Great price, great memory foam mattress. Got the short queen for under $210 shipped. Liked it well enough to buy two twin mattresses after our spare bedroom remodel.

Figure out what you like by going to multiple mattress shops- this is the hard part. If they don't have the measurements you need, look around and find a mom & pop mattress store that can order whatever size mattress you want. They're out there.

We want to get a different mattress too. I think it is a "standard" odd shape that is used in the smaller Class C's with no slide outs. The bottom comes off the bathroom wall at the bathroom door at about 45 degrees than meets the refrigerator wall and squares off to the passenger side wall. If it was square it would jut out and block the bathroom door so they cut that corner off. We got 3 years out of it but I really want to change it out. Probably have to have one custom made..

Apparently this mattress is a "bottom right hand cut corner" mattress.
I found a company named: FineWebStores.com out of Ohio that offers custom mattresses. They have measurement boxes that you fill out with your measurements and various style mattress components to choose from. No idea about this firm but I'm going to check out. Sounds like this is what I need.. We'll see.

Google "Zinus Short Queen". Got one last year and it was wonderful for this past season and looking forward to the new season. Memory foam mattress, as good as the Tempurpedic I have at home, at a fraction of the cost. Available in a variety of thicknesses.
