RV Port-A-Deck/Port-A-Step

due in large part to having undergone knee surgery within the last year and still having additional, unresolved issues with the same knee, I've ordered an aftermarket portable step/deck system that can make it simpler and safer for me to access our camper .... while spending January and February in Texas we happened to camp for several days with Gary Holley who has invented and produces RV Port-A-Decks and RV Port-A-Steps .... he is a full timer who builds the steps/decks as he travels .... he designs them to fit in the space between a 5er hitch and the truck tailgate .... setup and take down is simple and requires no tools .... after watching the process I'm sure I can put it up or taken it down in less time than it takes to put out our manual awning and stake it down .... if anyone is using one of these decks, tips/suggestions would be appreciated

I erected the deck twice at home (once was just for practice) .... on our current trip we put it up in St Louis and now in South Dakota .... so, even though it has been in use for most of the last 3 months, I've only put it up 4 times .... its proven to be one of those items that now that we have it, we wouldn't want to be without it .... I have sprayed some dry silicone on most of the pivot joints and that has really helped cut the time needed to put it up and take it down

Glad that the steps are working out for you. Now that you have put it up and taken it down a few times are you doing it quicker.

7-3-14 .... update .... we have been in South Dakota for almost 2 weeks and our Port-A-Deck continues to prove to be a strong asset .... having experienced some strong winds since our arrival, getting in and out of the camper has proven to be much safer/easier with the Port-A-Deck's stability and hand rails .... we are well satisfied with this addition to our camping equipment

6-14-14 .... update .... we are currently traveling with our camper and are setup in Fenton, MO .... since we will be here for 8 days we have setup our Port-A-Deck and are delighted with the way it eases entrancing and exiting our camper .... so far three other campers who are here on long term stays have come by to look at it and say they plan to call for info .... we continue to believe that this has been an excellent addition to our camping gear

our Port-A-Deck arrived today .... as anticipated, its a very strong, well built product .... solid feel when on the stairs or deck .... I didn't time the setup but after one attempt I still believe that it will take about the same amount of time as putting out our manual awning and staking it down .... I'm not able to post pictures on this forum but if anyone is interested, I can send them by email .... the deck is setup by our camper which is parked behind the house, it will be used both at home and while traveling

we've never had anything stolen from a campsite but have heard of such things .... would you think it would be wise to put a cable/lock on our deck/steps that would secure it to the camper's OEM steps

Gary told us his motivation for developing his steps & decks came from the fact his wife has some physical issues which make it difficult for her to negotiate their camper's OEM steps

Thanks for posting this. As soon as my wife sees this we will be contacting the company. You may have helped us find a way to keep me able to easily access my RV.
