No one was injured which is good news. Sounds like they were trying to get them all moved so it wasn't a surprise to anyone at the scene.
Just have to wonder if as stated permanent resident, the MH wouldn't start? The new caster spoke of no time to pack up, heck start, drop power, water, and sewer and move!
They may not have had any fuel in the RV. If you are using it as a stationary permanent residence, why would you keep fuel in the tank to gunk up. - toedtoesExplorer IIIFlash floods like that can happen and they don't give you a lot of time to prepare.
In addition, a lot of "permanent residents" in RV Parks don't have the ability to move the RV. They may have paid someone to move a trailer into the spot, so don't have a truck that can tow it. They may not have any fuel in the motorhome. They may have stuff stored under and/or around the RV.
So moving it quickly may seem easy for those of us who travel, but it's not that way for everyone living in an RV. - dedmistonModerator

Just and FYI, that "river" is normally just a dry sandy wash (rode motorcycles in it back in the day.) The water was an overnight surprise.
Valencia Travel Village is just up the creek from the old Indian Dunes MX park. It's also near the spot where Vic Morrow and the child actors died while filming The Twilight Zone Movie.
It's usually a dry creek, but there are documented accounts of the Spanish explorers sailing up the Santa Clara river miles past that site, long before the river and the aquifers would be used up for municipal drinking water. - toedtoesExplorer IIII doubt these people just let their RVs fall into the river for an insurance payout.
Per the news article I linked, the RV caught on video was a permanent resident who was unable to get everything moved in time.
There were two other RVs that fell in. - momentum_rvExplorerJust and FYI, that "river" is normally just a dry sandy wash (rode motorcycles in it back in the day.) The water was an overnight surprise.

The Class A they showed going over has a home A/C units in the bedroom window and the front roof A/C appears damaged ad well. Maybe the insurance claim made leaving it there part of the decision.

And on a related topic: from Ottawa (approx. where I'm from) the Rideau Canal ("longest skating rink in the world") isn't going to open this year because of thin ice for the first time since it started in 1971.
Nooooooo!!!! That is just sad. I remember my first trip to Ottawa and hearing how folks would ice skate to and fron work on the canal. That just brought such wonderful images. - joebedfordNomad IIAnd on a related topic: from Ottawa (approx. where I'm from) the Rideau Canal ("longest skating rink in the world") isn't going to open this year because of thin ice for the first time since it started in 1971.
