Sad news from Nashville KOA-two dead from carbon monoxide.

Yesterday a couple in a camper found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning at the Nashville KOA on Music Valley Dr.
News was there was a burner on the stove turned on when someone came to check on them. No word about a carbon monoxide detector.
Everyone be careful, extra careful.

ALSO!!! CO2 dectectors have dates on them...make sure yours are current (ours was not as we didn't know it)...ditto on smoke detectors...they don't last forever. Oh, and guess what..change the batteries twice per year as they don't work without batteries that are
    fresh.

    Very sad but avoidable.

Kidde has a new model that has a ten year lithium ion battery. It also has a readout so if the alarm goes off you can see what the level is. About $50 at home depot.

CO = Carbon Monoxide which kills
CO2 = Carbon Dioxide used to make your soda fizz, you also exhale CO2

  • I have the built in Propane/CO detector as well as a stand alone CO detector in the bedroom.
  • Not only be careful....but be pro-active too! If you dont have a carbon monoxide detector get one. If you have one...make sure it works or replace it.

Saw this already earlier on here - This is something I'm sure we all do from time to time. The stove burner is there to use by just flipping a knob.. every one surely knows the hazard here... Even in our tent camping days we used catlytic type heaters and survived... A MR BUDDY heater is my current back-up heater in my OFF-ROAD POPUP now and I have a special spot to use it which is right under a roof vent... Going to sleep with these things burning fuel is definitely a no-no for us...

Even the high dollar CAT TYPE unvented propane wall heaters is unsafe to use as a couple of well known RV NET familys on here know from first hand experience.
