Seasonal Work Ideas

Here are two seasonal work ideas that may come in handy for some.

These are not widely known about but can be well paid.

Utility Locator: if you can walk with no problems this job entails locating power, telephone, gas and or water lines underground. It is simple and most companies will train you. This is primarily a seasonal job in the Northern tier states during the summer. Pays around $16 to $22 per hour depending on experience. There is usually overtime.

Driving Railroad Crews: All train crews must get to and from their trains. When their time runs out the train stops. This is a very big industry. The best places to get these jobs are in the high employment states (like ND and MT) You drive nice vehicles like Ford Expeditions. The only requirement for this job is that you can drive, have a good driving record and can pass a drug test. The pay can be by the mile (not so good) or by the hour; starts at $18/hr in ND. This is a year round job so if you need to work just to make a few extra bucks for that next long trip this can be a good deal.

To find these companies just google the appropriate term followed by "jobs". I dont want to recommend any one company over another. But if you PM me I can tell you who to steer clear of. This can be a bit of Buyer Beware as some of the companies skirt the law or outright ignore it where pay rules are concerned. Ask lots of hard questions. Generally most companies are OK.

I realize this is not strictly a "workCamper" type of job but they can be very lucrative. And they often hire couples.
