Seat lift installed in RV

Recently our 94 year old mother came to live with us permanently. The issue then became how do we get her into and out of the motorhome safely? She traveled with us extensively when we full timed and is anxious to do so again.

Without solving this problem we could not rv again for the foreseeable future. Today, thanks to a friend helping me with the install, and the great product from Travel Lift Chair, the problem is solved. The smile on her face as she sat on a seat and was lifted into the motorhome was priceless.

It is a very easy install, a well made unit, and the support from the company excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone with a similar need.

    The one we installed can easily be removed and would have three small holes near the top of the interior of the door frame and four holes in the bottom of the interior of the step well that would be covered by carpet. Unplug the power cord and it would be gone with barely a trace. No exterior holes.

    Ol' - I do not know about the other product, but the install in my rig was 4 drilled holes thru the RV wall side for each of two mounting brackets. Inside, to the left of the door are two black steel squares with brass head bolt covers. If I decide to remove the lift, it would be a simple exterior fibreglass repair and repaint, but the interior holes would need some sort of new wall covering to hide the eight holes.

    I'm curious, do either of these make permanent modifications to the RV or can they be removed after they are no longer needed?

    Three years ago my co-pilot could no longer climb the steps into our rig, so I did some searching and found a lower cost solution in this product: http://www.mobile-lifts.com/motorhome-and-rv-lifts/

    It arrived in two parcels and only took about a 1/2 day to install - the most time consuming was running power to it. We too were delighted to again have the ability to use the RV together. Total cost was less than $2K. N.B. As the lift operates on the outside wall, I needed to build (from 3/4 plywood and "L" Aluminum pieces) a removable flat panel to fit over the inside entry steps - like the one in the picture). It also adds that bit of floor space so one does not unexpectedly step into the stepwell.

    I installed a similar product in our 5th wheel so my 90 year old dad could travel with us. Sure made it easier and safer for him to get in and out of the trailer. We had lots of great times and memories with him.
