I still own the 22 single shot bolt action I got for Christmas when I was 10.
But I don't carry it in my RV. Only kept it in my house before I sold it for nostalgia sake.
Got out of the habit of owning/ keeping guns during my 20 years in the US military. Danged hard to move them across oceans. Some countries really don't want them.
Never felt a need to get one since.
I do not camp where I feel it is not a basically safe area. Yet I have many friends who do keep weapons because they don't feel safe anywhere without them, including my son.
You do what you feel necessary. But do take some time to look up and understand the various states gun laws.
