Seriously... who calls it glamping?

What is Glamping? Have heard the term but no idea what it stands for.

I guess it doesn't bother me, because I have no clue what it means. It's the same as a lot of the short cut words used when texting on a phone. I don't text, because I have no clue what they mean! Every new generation comes up with new vocabulary words that the older generations have no clue what's being said.

Someone tell me what this word means and then I give my opinion if it's a stupid word or not.

Glamorous camping, or glamping. My niece uses it to refer to her friends that still put on way to much make-up, even when camping.

Glamping: a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping: glamping is likely to satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life’s luxuries.

Its to attract yuppies so they can pay more. If you are going to charge $400 a nite, you better come up with something new to call it.

Besides, can you really call this tent camping?

I guess I was taking a look at pinterest and few other sites that show really really beautiful vintage trailer renovations. And then they go an ruin it and refer to the renovated campers as "glampers". LOL It just seems so "hollywood".

I have no problem with the term. It's like differentiating between those who enjoy sleeping in tents (camping) with those of us who much prefer anything from a pop up to a nice Class A (RVing). Glamping, as far as I can tell, describes those who enjoy an upscale Class A, going to RV Resorts with outdoor kitchens at the site where nothing less than an upscale Class A at least 35' is allowed. That's not us, for sure, and I'm glad they now have a descriptive term just for them!!

It's the media making up words again. It's supposed to pique the interest so you'll read more.
