- pbitschuraExplorerFor me, I say, what's the point. For some maybe. But I call this "staying home". There's no real experience apart from a night in a 4 star motel, outside, in a tent.
- Edd505ExplorerIf ya can't move it's not camping it home.
- LwiddisExplorer IIInteresting but not my style.
- GordonThreeExplorerSo they're canvas cabins that are part of a ritzy resort?
- 185EZExplorer$420 per night and 3 meals is a steal to our american dollar
buy their alcohol? no flippin way
sub zero temps in a tent? no flippin way - DutchmenSportExplorerNot for me, I enjoy my own glamper...my 5er with every creature comfort desires. But, I can see where someone who does not own an RV and who wants to experience something different than a normal hotel vacation would really get their kicks out of this.
- pnicholsExplorer IIHow's that different than hanging out in many RVs ... as with our little 24 foot Class C RV that allows us to drycamp all over North America with comforts such as:
- Separate furnace and A/C outlets in several places, including in the bathroom
- Two queen beds, with one of them being more comfortable than our home's king
- A large outdoor propane fire pit with both open flames for cooking and artificial-rock radiant heat for body warming
- Five outdoor chairs, with one of them being a larger men's lounge chair and one of them being a smaller women's lounge chair
- A foldable outdoor table for games, food preparation, eating around, etc.
- A swivel and sliding comfortable indoor lounge chair with a provision for proping up your feet
- An indoor dinette for four people to eat together or play table games/cards together
- An awning to get out of the sun during the day and also be warmed somewhat underneath with warm air during cool evenings from the furnace's output exhaust (or the propane fire pit)
- An outside entertainment center that includes a table for setting a small TV on
- An outside hot/cold shower
- An oven for baking a pizza, or a pie, or a cake, or etc.
- An outside outlet for use of electric appliances outdoors
- Full 4000 watt 120V electric power available inside or outside the RV
- Quiet forced fresh air ventilation throughout the coach day or night, rain or shine
- A full size beach umbrella for use when lounging in the sun away from the RV's awning - DutchmenSportExplorerI think the target audience is not for those of us who are active in the RV lifestyle. I think the target audience is for those who do not have accesses to the RV lifestyle, for whatever reason. Yes, it sounds expensive, but if the motel is an upper scale motel to begin with, then the management, of course, will make their "tent camping" high end scale also, along with the price.
I don't think this motel's target audience are folks who are living pay-check-to-paycheck or folks living on government assistance or homeless. Just like a cruise on a cruise ship, it's a once in a lifetime experience, something to give you bragging rights at the exclusive closed membership club they belong to.
Or, like a cruise, the "average" customer might have saved up several years to make a really special vacation experience.
Either way, I'm most confident the intended clientele are not RVer's. Yuppies, guppies, and fluffies yes? But not seasoned RVers.
And I bet they have a waiting list 5 years long since there are only so few tents available. DutchmenSport wrote:

You'd perhaps be surprised at how inexpensive cruising can be!
If you wander in to a travel agent and say sign me up for the Carribean or something, then you're going to really pay for it.
My ex was a travel agent before we married. Her love of travel always stayed with her through our time together.
She was an absolute genius at finding unbelievable deals on cruises. We cruised 7 times together and we are by no means well off. She would search a pile of places and get screaming deals for all kinds of exotic cruises. Couple grand and we were off to all over the south Pacific for a week, 10 days, 2 weeks.
Only thing is we had to get to Florida to leave, but she was just amazing at getting cheap flights too.
We cruised on the Love Boat for our honeymoon for very cheap.- maddog348ExplorerI dislike 'made-up' words ~ Glamping is at the top if my list. Just can't swallow it down yet.
