Sleeping options with a older baby

There was a forum member that did a removable DIY on the dinette for his child. It was the BEST one I have ever seen and VERY nice looking. And more importantly it was very safe for the child.

Pack N Play is about the easiest option if you've got the room, that's what we used for the grand kids, but we had a 25 ft trailer at the time and the Pack N Play would fit nicely in the kitchen area.

I have an 18 ft travel trailer. My grandkids use the Regalo cots. They fold up like a camp chair. We just put it on the floor by the bed, or take out the dinette table and put it there.

Both of our sons started out camping by sleeping in a large cardboard box on the dinette bed. The box keeps them from rolling off. It worked great.

We had one that would sleep wherever she ran out of gas.

We put a baby gate across the bottom bunk and that's it! Permanent and she can't fall to the floor. She has been in there since she was 6 months old. No problems.

What about a small air mattress on the floor next to you? As Don & Mary said, it won't be too long and this will not be an issue. We tented with our daughter from 1 year old on. Her own personal air mattress worked great.

Both our daughters have trailers with bunks. They used the lower bunk for the youngest and designed a net that was easy access, but kept the baby from falling out.

I wouldn't go too crazy trying to figure this out. By the next time you go camping, the baby will 11 months and the a year old. Its not a problem for very long, so don't make any long term or expensive changes.

There are a ton of Pack N Play units. We full time with our now 5 month old, and have had her in their smallest, lightest unit since birth. She sleeps in it fine, and it fits between our bed and the dresser. They have large models as well, you just need to find the one that will work for you.

We used a Pack n Play as well. You can get a smaller one if necessary. The Pack n Play also gives you a secure place to put the baby down if you are outside. Get some mosquito netting to put over the top to keep the bugs out.
