We have a 6.5 foot bed ford pick up. In the market for a reliable and cost effective manual slider fifth wheel hitch. Not looking to break the bank. We do not want an autoslide. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use a Reese 16k with reese manual slider. Reasonable price came with our 5th wheel. I tow our second RV a 2001 Fleetwood Prowler 255B 5th wheel with our Supercrew King Ranch 5 1/2 ft bed. I have only had to use the slider once when we ended up on a dead end road and had to make a really tight turn around. The Prowler design works for a shorter box.

The entry level sliders have 4 spring loaded pins that need to be lifted and turned before the hitch can be moved, once hooked up they are almost impossible to reach. Ours is a pita, fortunately we don't need this feature with our current trailer. Make sure you get a single lever release. The better ones also use a jaw to capture the pin rather than a bar for a more secure lock.

That ^^^^ would be my first choice for an auto slide since B&W does not make an auto slide. Pull ride is US Made also.

I was going to go with the B&W manual 18K slider (RVK3270), American made with American steel until I spotted a new Pull Right Superglide on Craig's List which put an auto slider with in my budget.

Amazon has a Curt R16 (slider only) for $273.35 or Head & slider for &631.81. I have the Curt Q16 w/slider and like it.
