Wife just got off phone with some friends of ours. His wife told mine about their problem. He has a colonoscopy scheduled Monday. If you ever had one of these, you know what he is doing. They had reservations at a place about an hour from hosp. But when they got to the campground, they found out the water is shut off and about 1/2 of loop is dug up. She says they're are going to get a motel, RV is just not big enough. I guess this one of few times an RV is not the "way to go"

Is that cg the ONLY one in the area? Easy moving place to place is what RVs do........g'luck for your friend, anyway....

Sometimes a RV just is not the way to "go"I agree.And in your friends case, they should have called the campground they planned on staying at ahead of time. Or never planned on taking the RV in the first place if the "RV is just not big enough." unless that was their only mode of transportation.

What? They have no fresh water tank in their RV to hold them for 1 day.

It is a thought, some have much more capacity to handle it. I just took the other half for a colonoscopy and our 30 gallons of fresh water/ 27 gallons of black tank would not have lasted long.

I have been Full time since 1999. And in that time I have had 3 colonoscopy's. For all of them I done the prepare for them the day before a 6AM procedure. And all of the prepare was done in my MH with no problem. I have had no problem being able to drive 12 hours after any of them.

And you can't drive yourself from the procedure as they will not release you without a designated driver. They don't even allow you to take a Cab.

Just recently I drove a friend to have one done. At that one, after he was done a Nurse walked us all the way out to the car to see that he wasn't driving. And that he got in the car with me.

Oh my!!!! What do you think full-timers do? It really is no big deal. Many of us have done the colonoscopy while living in a RV and more than that have been sick or dealt with surgeries.

yea, but don't forget, the OP's friend had NO water at their campsite!

Is this their first exam? Not really that big of deal IMO.
BTW afternoon appointment seemed better to me. 6am start the prep and done and out to a good dinner by 6pm.
OK I was not in the RV and still I see no big difference.

Colonoscopy while in an RV....yea right. When you have a flood coming out your backside it's a very big deal. Get a motel.

On a parallel vein, i have been taking chemo for a lot of years. It gives me major 'discomfort' also. I quite often find myself racing to the can. I have tried to not let it interfere with camping. It very inconvenient, but manageable. It is what i call 'fire hose' stuff, 24/7. Sometimes i can't leave our campsite because of this, but that's ok. I would much rather be surrounded by nature, than sitting at home. Sorry if this is tmi.

Well, we tried it for about 3-1/2 years. Now, we do both. Obviously, there's something to be said for both.

We were away this summer, one rv bathroom, 3 adults, a teen and a toddler. Toddler brought stomach flu with him. All but one adult had 24 hours of both ends going, it was hairy for a while, but somehow we managed between the one toilet and plastic bags. No idea how we got lucky that only one person needed the toilet at a time. But still. Never again!

Yes, an RV is not always the best choice. But for us, it is our first choice when we need to go somewhere over night. We think it through, and make a decision. That's my way of seeing the big picture. Sometimes we RV, and sometimes we go campin'. Two different animals.
