HELP Have a 5ver parked in our yard here in Central Florida. We have a great many squirrels in our area and believe they have been in the camper..chewed toilet paper strewn around. My question: what is good to put out to keep them out of the camper....I know some have said irish spring soap for rodents...will it work in this instance ?

Deterrents do not work. The only way to keep them out is to plug all entrance holes. Under the belly, all the frame rails, the grills over the fridge and furnace, etc. ANYWHERE they can find a way in must be blocked. Steel wool works good, and they make a spray foam that is specifically meant to keep rodents out.

Good luck!

This! (I shot a squirrel in my yard today, but a hawk picked him up before I could take a step. You are welcome, Mr hawk.)

A a dog. Really, they are your best defense against squirrels.

All we have do is simply say the word, "squirrel" and both our dachshunds go insane! They're good at chasing them, lousy at actually catching them ... that's ok, it gives the dogs good exercise chasing them.

It must be the short legs, our Jack (Parson) Russell's catch them nearly every time. :B

Squirrels are rats with better press agents. But I have to agree, your problem sounds more like the work of their smaller relative, the mouse. With squirrels, you would likely find larger holes chewed out, twigs and nuts squirreled away (pun intended) and a whole lot of the outside brought inside. You have to go republican on squirrels and build a wall, deterrence is generally not effective.

Pure Peppermint Oil soaked cotton balls in your answer. Has worked for us for over 10 years, no mice.

I stayed at Ft. Desoto and noticed a plethora of squirrels and birds on the roof. Even think two holes were started by birds, none the less I bought a plastic owl at Home Depot and put it on a pole near the roof...the problem quickly disappeared.

Perhaps a few near your rig would help.

I would guess mice. Regardless though you need to seal ALL openings. Deterrents simply dont work. The only sure fire way is stopping them getting in.

That sounds like mice. Check all your drawers for a little nest. We had the problem and put original Irish Spring all over the place, especially under the drawers. Never had a problem since.

If you are sure you have squirrels maybe this woudl work.
