storage shelters for rv

What about the fabric jobbies that can be recovered in a few years or how long?

Hubby was going to build one but I am kind of not going for that...any easy ones? He mentioned fabric and recovering in a few years when it ages out. How long to fabric ones last in NY area?
Or aluminum heavy duty.

Probably looking to have use of something for about 15 years and don't mind replacing fabric for that time period. I don't want to do the stick built thing really but...

Depending on what part of NY your in, with the amount of snow you get up there , I don't think anything Fabric will last a year, the metal car port types will last a lot longer, if it has an A frame type roof, again, depending on the amount of snow, 3-4' of heavy wet snow can & has brought down even a stick built garage.
  • We had a tarp canopy. Fabric lasted two years. Wind was rough on it. Also entire unit crab walked several feet during strong winds even though each of the eight legs were in an 80 pound bucket of cement. We resolved the problem by purchasing a nice metal 18 X 28 canopy from Tri State canopy. $1550 installed. So very nice.
  • I have all three. The tarp canopies last about three or four years and need continual snow removal. The aluminum one is still OK, as is the stick built. Before you decide, figure out how much each one will add to your property value and what that means in your situation.
  • I purchased one from this company:

It was a bear to put up and I know it would have lasted at least 10 years. However, to call it portable is pushing the issue. We were thinking of moving it once we sold the house but it was so heavy and time consuming to put up, we sold it with the house. It was very well built and did its job well.
Personally, I would go with a metal shelter.
