Strangest thing asked to borrow

Must say I've gotten some laughs out of reading about borrowed things. Just this past spring had a couple tent camp across from us, had two boys Noah and Sam....gosh don't think I'll ever forget how many times those names were called....anyway we knew they were using air mattresses because we'd hear the pump, well on the 3 day the Dad comes over and ask if we had any duck tape? Which we did, he said he only wanted about 2 inches....reason the 3 year old had just bitten a hole through his brand new air mattress during a time out.
We've also had this gal at Charlotte Motor Speedway come up to me when I was sitting outside our RV reading, she wanted to borrow our bathroom because she didn't want to go in a portable john...the answer no sorry......seen her keep going down the line asking.....

I'm in a “festival” type place right now. The guy next to me pulled I about an hour ago and asked for some help getting set up. He could not find the sewer, water, and could only find a duplex outlet for power. After telling him that's all they have.
He came back with a nasty 5 gallon bucket and wanted to barrow some water to make it through the night. I also gave him a few bottles of water to drink.
I nicely let him know that I did not want any of the water back.

While camping on the beach at Thorn Hill Broome we saw a car come in real late and set up camp 2 spaces away. They proceeded to put up their tent in pitch darkness.

The next morning there was a knock on the door of the RV and there stood a young lady with a silly question to ask.

Seems that in their haste to leave the Simi Valley where it was 101 that day they each had taken a chore to load the car and they had everything, food, water, camp stove everything........but someone had forgot the box that had the pots, pans, plates and knifes and spoons. They had every thing but a way to cook and eat.

We gave her what she needed and she and her girlfriend got to have a champagne breakfast on the beach. Now that is what camping is all about.

Had a new one for me. We pulled into the campground and was backing into a site and the guy next door came running up. He wanted to know how long we were going to be there and I told him 4 nights and he replied great! He went on to explain that he had friends coming that were also going to be there 4 days and they were going to be on the other side of me. He asked if I minded swapping sites so they could be next to each other and not constantly crossing my site. There was really no difference in the sites, I just made my reservations before they did so we swapped and let the gate know. I laughed and said "you know if I get a real bu** on my other side you are going to owe me big". He just laughed and said I owe you big anyway. First time I "loaned" my site.

Our friends and my DW and I were camping at a full hookup campground a couple of years ago when a young couple pulled in along side of us and started to set up. This was their first trip with their new trailer and they were very excited until they realized that they didn't have any sewer hoses or water hose. We asked them where their starter kit was and they didn't know what we were talking about. My friend had an extra white water hose and I gave them a new Blu Line sewer kit with 20 fit of hose. We then proceeded to show them how to use everything and not leave the black tank open. We let them keep everything when they left a couple days later. We just told them to help out the next guy that needs something. They thanked us about 15 times. I wasn't to crazy about getting the used sewer hose back anyway.

A few weeks ago DH and I were at a new (to us) CG about an hour from home.

We had had a few ants and laid out some Terro baits and thought we'd eradicated the problem, however we continued to find shredded insulation in our light fixtures after we arrived at the CG.

Decided we might have a mice issue, not just ants.

I sent DH to the CG store to get a mousetrap and some peanut butter. He arrived back with a moustrap and some peanut butter wrapped in was paper.

The store didn't have mousetraps or peanut butter, but the owner went to her house and gave DH from her own.

Thought this was a very nice gesture, and they are our new fav place close to home!

I sent them a pack of 4 mousetraps to replenish her own and to help out other campers who might have the same dilemma.

Btw - seems we didn't have mice, but the insulation in the HTT is apparently cellulose which ants love.

Not from us, but this was reported on I think the Mexico forum some years ago:

A Class A motorhome driving on a major highway in Mexico was pulled over by a Federale patrol car. They were a bit worried as to what they might have done wrong; they were at but not above the speed limit. (Note here: The Federales are honest cops in Mexico--asking for a bribe will get them fired.)

The officer approached and asked if they had a generator and a microwave. When they admitted to that, he asked if they would mind----and produced a bag of microwave popcorn! They complied, and with smiles and thanks he wished them a good trip and went on his way happily munching on his hot popcorn.
