We do all our research online, site map review, campground rules, etc. But then pick up the phone to male the reservation. Noting like actually talking to someone there on the ground who knows the sites and can guide you, talk through what you are looking for in a site and direct you to a best suited site.
I may sound like an old man, but at sub-40 I guess I'm just old fashioned.
Not old fashioned. Just thorough and smart enough to do your research. That has no age limit. - BulldawgFanExplorerWe do all our research online, site map review, campground rules, etc. But then pick up the phone to male the reservation. While traveling when we stop for lunch we look ahead to see how much farther we want to go, and call to check for availability.
The time of year, or day of the week makes a difference too.
In our area if you want to get into any of the State parks after school is out you need reservations months in advance. The National park is the same way. - icanonExplorer

Just wondering how folks reserve there campsite.
It will be fun to see the results.
So, do you reserve on line or do you do it over the phone?
I use both. I find and look for places on line and through other means. Then I call them and ask some forthright (but friendly) questions.
This usually results in us being much happier with the place we finally choose. And it also gives us a "feel" for the place or it's personality you just cant get by doing it all online.
Good point about getting the 'feel' for the place you certainly can't get that on the net. - CavemanCharlieExplorer IIIOn line
- Cloud_DancerExplorer IIMost of the time, telephone. We have both, smart and NSM.

- toedtoesExplorer IIII think phone calls are more effective for RV parks and private campgrounds. For traditional public campgrounds, there isn't a whole lot to ask about.
