according to the Miami Herald 650,000 have been ordered out of Miami-Dade. Quoting from The Weather Channel app:

According to the Miami Herald, Miami-Dade County officials have ordered mandatory evacuations for Zones A, B and C on Thursday. With more than 650,000 people affected, it's expected to be the largest evacuation the county has ever attempted, the report added.

Everbody has to make there own choice with as much information as possible.

Texas has 3 direction to flee, Florida only has one direction. Big difference.

I don't know what model he was looking at but at 4 PM EDT on Thursday, the projected cone goes right up the center of Florida (almost) and then on into Alabama and Georgia and NOT on the coast.

I hope you are right and I am wrong.....because I am now in Virginia near the coast and getting home might be a problem. My wife is headed for Atlanta; average speed about 30 MPH on I-75.

I just looked at the latest projected path and even Atlanta might get some of it.

I sincerely hope you have made the right choice.

BUT

I'm on the west, west central side and they just issued a report on
what the winds will STILL be from the outer bands of the eye. Which I 'now'
know from last year that the outer bands of a hurricane can still take
your roof off and kill ya too! :C

8:00 -Marion County- Cat 3 winds, 'sustained' winds at 125 mph.

My brand new shingles are rated for 165 mph, won't matter though if the whole roof comes off! :W

Well I surived Matthew but I was **NOT** in the evacuation area. 3 miles north, but not in the evacuation area.. I basically did not have a choice or i"d have been 300 miles NOrth in a flash.

I'm 1000 miles north now. And rather liking that idea.

Who has ever "denied the science" of hurricanes?? I know people who simply have the "I'm too tough" attitude for hurricanes and stay put, but I've never in my life heard of anyone, or read of anyone, who "denied the science" of hurricanes? What does that mean, anyways?
