Tariffs hit RV prices

Sounds like he is just blaming it on someone other than himself.

The new steel and aluminum tariffs apply to pretty much every country we buy from except Canada and Mexico so far. If the NAFTA renegotiation falls through, they could be added as well. Interesting times...

F150 will also cost $5K more. Understandbly for aluminum intensive RV. The sad part is that domestic manufacturers also increased their prices to take advantage of price parity with tariff hit imports.

Smacks of Harley Davidson and their whining about a tentative 100 million dollar loss due to Tariff's but at the same time opening a plant in Taiwan to make the 'American Classic' Harley Davidson motorcycles.

I don't buy into any of that drivel.

Far as RV's go, just look inside. Almost all the components or at least part of the components come from, you guessed it...China.

Even that Fantastic roof fan... Chinese motor, Chinese electric components.

Remarked to our family doctor the other day..'About the only thing we make here anymore is babies and those are delivered with imported medical tools.

Things need to change, but to effect that change will take some hurt on the part of the American consumer.

Exactly and IMO, not very patriotic. No point in impacting profit margins, let the end user bear the brunt.

Its a convenient excuse for lots of companies in lots of industries. The true effect of a tariff on any one particular industry has yet to factually calculated by any economist. But since the excuse works and since politicians and unions are going to back it up, why not use it.

I would love to see a report on how tariffs are currently affecting fixed-price government contracts.

This is coming as they are doing a 25 million dollar expansion. They are worried the uncertainty will cause consumers to hit pause. I never thought about how much Chinese materials are in an RV.

Inflation I understand but Tariffs on China have not really hit yet.
So it is a phony political hit piece.

I have noted no decrease in steel nor aluminum on semis, from ports, on our Interstates.

Yeah, this post won't get political.

Take it from someone who worked for 3 multinationals from US, Europe and Asia. Money and profit has no nationality, no ideology and not nationalist.
