Most members of our chapter don't attend Samboree's any longer. Our state director brought up the possible name change recently to the chapter presidents, and our chapter president called us directly - since we do attend Samboree's regularly - to ask our opinion.
I'm not sure the name change will help.
The biggest issue I see with Good Sam Chapters is that so many are filled only with older members who actually don't want new members, especially young members. There are only a couple chapters that I know of who camp at public parks (state parks / COE) - that actively visit with others in the park and talk about Good Sam Chapters.
While camp hosting - we've talked to many people about Good Sam and Chapter membership. Most find the idea of calling the state wide meet a Samboree old fashioned and unfriendly to new people.
We attend a Samboree a month ago in a state far removed from our home region - and were surprised as how few people would take time to talk with us.
They seemed to be concerned with their chapter, and not interacting with other chapters or visitors.
Not very interested in attracting new members.
