The Fort bound

Heading to Disney's Fort Wilderness at noon today for a nice long weekend. We are meeting four other family's there. Looking forward to the Halloween decorations, biking, cruising in the golf cart, football on the outside TVs, drinks, and the first cool weather here in Florida.

Anyway, mostly loaded up......lite the refrigerator this morning.....will load it around 1100 and be on the road after that!

Enjoy your weekend!
  • We leave Thanksgiving day. I can't wait! I am looking foward to the drive down, it will be my longest tow. We have plenty of stops for the kids and staying in different campgrounds will be fun too.
  • We returned today after four great days at the Fort. Weather was picture perfect, with low 80s during the day and 50's at night!

We decorated some.......but so many people went above and beyond with their decorations....WOW! Great time for all of us and looking forward to another trip there in the next few months. I prefer our State parks.......but Disney sure is fun for a change of pace!

"and the first cool weather here in Florida??" According to my weather map it gonna' be 81 and sunny through the week-end, better not forget the gloves, lol!! It's 46 degrees here and we'll be down in the sunshine state in the end of the month, it'll take at least a week and several cases of beer to thaw out!!!!!
  • Wife and I were down there a while back. Stayed in one of the resorts but had a world hopper pass that gave us bike use and canoe use on the disney properties. Went out to the Camp Ground to do the canoe thing. Really only some small channels. The directions were, "go that way and keep making lefts". So we get out on the larger channel and the wife asks "Is that real?" 4 foot gator laying on the bank. As it slid into the water I said "Yep". At that point she started paddling for all she was worth! Rather funny. My point is that thing was just a short swim away from being in the campground. Watch the kids. A small gator may not be a danger in it's own right but if kids spot one and start messing with it anything can happen.
  • Should be a great time. We were there about this time in 2011 for 17 days. Halloween inside DW is fantastic. Crowds were not bad, and other than three straight days of heavy rain, weather was good.
