Tonneau cover pb with 5th wheel

If you are going to add an auxiliary fuel tank to the bed of your truck, and I do recommend that, then get the fuel tank installed before you get the cover just to make sure you will not have an interference problem.

I had Retrax cover and the rails of the cover reduced my bed width about 2". The pin box would contact the Retrax rails in tight turns on unlevel terrai.
I eventually got rid of the Retrax and went with a Bak Flip G2
Beware The tolerances are close. It really depends on the combo you have and type of pin box and even hitch you are using

Works great. When connected to the 5er I can either roll it completely in, or pull it back to near the hitch to cover anything I want covered in front of the hitch.
When unhooked, I can pull it back all the way to completely cover the bed and hide whatever I may have there.
Some hitches have a pull/release handle that sticks up well above the bed rails. You need a hitch with a handle that is below the rails for the cover to close. Or be able to remove the handle easily for that purpose.

I am trying to find out but i can't find the dimension
May have to wait for the hitch to be delivered

That will be great if i do not have to remove the hitch when not towing

You need about 6 inches of clearance between the top of the bedside to the bottom of the 5er.

He is talking about the tonneau side rails. They also extend into the bed on each side an inch or more reducing the clearance between the pin box and the side rails on tight turns. Some have reported the rear of the pin box hitting the tonneau cover side rails in such cases.
The 6" clearance is the distance between the top of the truck bed side rails and the bottom of the front of the 5er overhang. 6" is generally considered the minimum clearance you should have to keep the 5er from hitting the bed rails going over uneven ground.

Got it the rail you are talking are the tracks rail for the retrax
And the 6" are clearance with the fifth wheel

I have the Retrax also. I like the cover and the security when it is closed but just a couple of things about it. First, there is only 20" from the floor of my truck bed to the bottom of the cover. There are a number of items that are taller than 20" like generators, coolers, and heck, the hitch is 19" so it just clears. Another thing is that the tracks reduce the width of the box on top and I have heard of some owners having a problem that when they make a sharp turn the pin box hits these tracks.

The only problem that I have had is that I can't cover up my Honda 3000is and make it safe from prying eyes and coveting passers by. The advantage of a soft cover would be that I might be able to still cover up if needed because most of them sit higher than the Retrax.
