- John_S_Explorer IIA micro burst is tough. I have seen them on the water and when sailing and if a boater was not aware, things could get ugly. Dark us always tough as you can not see the cats paw like depression in the water. If the motorhome was head on or tail on then I would think no issues. Side on might flip a smaller lighter coach with lots of windage.
- easy_doesitExplorerIf anyone has first hand knowledge, I'm curious if any motorhomes, class A or C type, were overturned. I viewed all the photos I could find online and they all showed trailers only. I would think that with their heavier chassis, motorhomes would be less susceptible to strong winds than a towable.
- darsbenExplorer IIIsn't that a FEMA trailer?
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer III just checked the weather history; and the highest wind gust I could find was only 31 mph - so this clearly was a downburst.

Seems to me it would be a simple mater to determine if straight line winds or a tornado. With straight line winds, everything would be blown in the direction the wind was blowing.....with a tornado, stuff would be blown in all directions.

Straight line winds flip 20 RVs & campers in Gautier.
The micro-burst occurred when it was too dark to assess the damage, etc.
It wasn't until after sunrise that it was determined that it was straight-line wind.
Judging by the damage, I would estimate the wind speed to be above 120MPH.
A few years ago, my trailer survived a 94+MPH micro-burst at IBSP.
My anemometer broke and display said 94MPH. - lanerdExplorer IISeems to me it would be a simple mater to determine if straight line winds or a tornado. What am I missing?:h - mlts22ExplorerI wonder how bad the winds were. I know I've camped in 50-70 mph gusts, and what I did was face the trailer away from the wind (I couldn't face it into the wind due to towing logistics.) That minimized gusts hitting the sides that could have knocked the thing over.
