- jerseyjimExplorerPresumably the OP had the motorhome...then bought the Colorado...and this is what happens when someone buys a vehicle without researching IN ADVANCE if it can be towed 4 down...on a dolly...if at all.
- dons2346ExplorerAt FMCA conventions there is usually a "round table" discussion moderated by the tow equipment companies such as Blue Ox, Demco, Roadmaster. All of them say do not tow with the rear wheels on a tow dolly. This comes from experts in the field that manufacture both bars and dollys.
I would listen to the experts, I think they know a little more about towing than I do. - BusskipperExplorer

Found 2015 Colorado Owner's Manual. Page 10-78 "Dinghy Towing" says 2WD are not towable four down. But Page 10-81 says OK to tow Rear-UP if you immobilize the steering wheel with a clamp designed for towing. For Tow Truck use, I presume. They tell you to put the key in lock/off, but they want you to secure the wheel with that external device.
I'm surprised, but that's what Chevy says! Now see if a DOLLY manufacturer will buy into that plan. Part of the issue is probably weight distribution: Most FWD *AND* RWD *OR* 4x4 vehicles are front heavy. Towing backwards puts more weight behind the dolly than on the dolly. Maybe they don't like that.
The answer is Yes but not with the wheel lock - Your best bet to find an attachable wheel lock will be U-Haul, just go to any and they will be able to help you out by selling out directing you to the proper lock system.
BOL, - RJsfishinExplorerIf I had a 2WD, and wanted to tow on a dolly the drivers would go up on the dolly.....no matter which end of the car they were on, there is just no reason not to. And yes, I would lock the s wheel, and snubber it down the the driver seat.
The source of my info comes from common sense. - j-dExplorer IIFound 2015 Colorado Owner's Manual. Page 10-78 "Dinghy Towing" says 2WD are not towable four down. I think you'll find that Rear-UP is OK for breakdown towing, and you see tow trucks dragging RWD vehicles around Rear-Up every day. But I think if you look up "Recreational" or "RV" "Long Distance" you'll see a different answer.
- timbersplittersExplorerSorry the colorado is rear wheel drive.
- timbersplittersExplorerThe owners manual says the fwd colorado can be towed rear wheels up. I'm worried about damaging the ignition lock if it is used to keep the wheels straight. I'll contact the dealer since no one seems to know the answer.
- jerseyjimExplorerWhat does the OWNERS MANUAL say?
- j-dExplorer IIAre you wanting to do this because the Colorado is two-wheel drive-automatic? I ask because the 4x4 can be towed four-down.
Yes, some people tow backwards on a dolly but again, not recommended by any manufacturer. Vehicles or Dollies.
