tow dolly

My husband recently purchased a used master tow dolly. When we went to use it for the first time we had a problem turning corners. The swivel plate does not turn all the way back. Upon close inspection i can see through the holes what looks to be wood flooring. Is this suppose to be there? The person we bought this from said it was ready to go. I have looked on line for a diagram of the tow dolly as how it is put together but can find nothing. Is there suppose to be anything under the swivel plate? We are in our early 70's and would appreciate any information on this. thank you
  • Mastertow.com sells the pads for under 20 bucks online. I think you need one center pad and two side pads. If it isn't apparent, maybe customer support can tell you how to replace them.
  • There are supposed to be polyethylene pads under the pan. They are fairly slick. I suggest you try looking at the Master Tow website, www.Mastertow.com . There is a contact section there you can look up who to call for information.

BTW, I am pleased with my unit. It is probably 10 - 12 years old now.

Is this a Roadmaster? If it is, do the wheels turn, or does it have a plate that turns?
If the wheels turn, you need to look in the middle, between the two storage compartments. You should see a hole. With the wheels straight, that hole lines up with another hole that you insert a pin of the same size. If you don't have a pin, Camp World should, or a hardware store. Just get the pin long enough to go all the way through.
If it is not a Roadmaster, I can't help. If you are tying to drive a Roadmaster without this pin, you will have serious problems, such as an accident.
