not sure if this is in the right place. I am contemplating adding a small trailer to my fun. Plan is or might be: We have fifth wheel, want to add a lifted golf cart of some sort. About 1000 lbs with trailer. So just looking for thoughts and ease of towing. some have added boats, quad trailers etc behind fifth wheel. Your thoughts, comments, constructive criticism is welcome. thanks in advance, Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !

Do not beleive it is legal in OR.

I don't, but it is very common in this area from small utility trailers to very large boats and cargo and car trailers. Seems some states along both coast do not allow it, but most across the central US do.

Some manufacturers will void your warranty if you do. If the trailer is not under warranty, then it is up to you.

Anyone routinely double/tripple tow in WA or OR?

I am licensed SD and CA recognized SD as OK. So I can tow in the SW no problem but when heading to NW for the Summer I am concerned with being pulled over.

We pull an enclosed cargo trailer with a very small classic car in it as a second trailer. We don't pull it routinely just on selected trips. I would suggest that you have full confidence in whoever installs a hitch on your 5th wheel, if it doesn't already have what you need. Having some cameras on the back of the 5th wheel so you can see what's going on is a benefit. We haven't had any problems of any kind on the road. Good luck.

Thousands of people do this everyday, mostly in the south and Midwest. I pulled a small boat behind a TT for years with no problems, then a fifth wheel and then behind the Jeep hooked to my MH. I see this everyday in Arkansas and Missouri with boats, ATVs and golf carts, never saw one wrecked or stop by LEO. I have even seen Jeeps on a towbar behind fifth wheels. Make sure you get a good hitch that attaches to the frame, not the bumper and go have fun. I see racks on the back with generators on them, a thousand pound trailer will put less stress than that on the frame. Even spare tires and bike racks would probably be as much as a small trailer.

OP - you make no mention of what kind of fifth wheel and tow vehicle you have. Besides the legalities, you need to consider whether or not the frame on your fifth wheel will handle it and whether or not you will exceed the combined gross weight of the truck/trailer combo, etc.

I've done this many times, works well for me. Second trailer tracks well behind FW. Keep in mind, it is nearly impossible to back two trailers, other than a short distance.

There are varying state laws. You may want to check your towing areas.

Check out the IDAHO TOTE DOLLY brand extension platform that is not considered a trailer. It is physically attached the rear of the fifth wheel and has two swivel wheels to the ground for support...

Even this may not be legal in all States... Check with your licensed state DMV to see what the status might be for you...

Limited! Not legal in most states, and some require additional licensing of the driver.
