Travel trailer Hitch height

Hello, Trying to figure out why my blue Ox Swaypro receiver has to be turned upside down and set on the lowest of the holes for my trailer to be somewhat level when all hooked up. Ive done everything that the instructions said to do and this is how it is. I'm wondering if it could be the fact that My 2009 Keystone hideout ball height when the trailer is level is 17" from the ground to the top of the hitch. So if I'm doing it correctly the receiver that goes in my 2014 F-150 fx4 should be the same or 1" higher than that. The result is it seems like my hitch is sitting low and my trailer still has a bit of front lift when fully loaded and hitched up. Anybody have this similar issue or can anybody offer some help?

What do you mean by a bit of front lift when loaded?

You are correct that you need the ball height on the truck at even with the trailer coupler height or up to 1" higher. I use that same hitch and on my new truck I also have to have it set as low as it can go to get to that level mark. Once there than you need to measure the front of your truck before and after hookup to ensure proper weight transfer using the bars and links.

The lift you are referring to, I don't completely understand but it makes me think you might be too light on your tongue weight. That is if you are hooking it up per the directions and it feels like the front of your trailer is pulling up the rear of your truck.

Let us know more and we will all be glad to help! I learned everything I know from this site and trial and error.

Great hitch by the way!!

If your trailer is level and it's 17" from the ground to the coupler, that's what it is??

I've got my hitch head set on the lowest hole on my drop shank and my trailer sits level at 18".

This is my old F150, but I used the same hitch setup with my new F150 and this is where it works the best for me.

If your truck is taller, then you need more drop on the hitch.

Or you need to lift the trailer axles to get closer to your lowest hitch setting.

Good luck!
