Well, let me tell you pitch and a few others that claim agents "do not have the right". The agent could have given you the "pull over there and wait" speech. From there the agent could have called in the big boys to search your vehicle and trailer. They could have torn everything apart and then given you a piece of paper advising you to get it put back together by a professional before continuing on your way. Fact
That's it,, I'm outta here
Reading some replies that quote this makes me wonder. I will try not to get political, and stay historical.
Would this happen at a ag checkpoint? Very unlikely at this point. But say a roadside safety check or traffic stop? I believe it has.
First look at history. Ever hear about what your government did to the Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor? You, and most others think "But we where at WAR!" and the government has said "we're sorry" In times of war, "rights" must be restricted. Congress has the right to declare war, and in nearly 78 years they have done it twice.
War on Drugs and
War on Terror When I raised my hand to swear to protect the constitution it had so many amendments I could not keep track of which was which. But in service of these 2 wars congress has done away with most of them. And for some reason the american people only throw a fit when they talk about one of them.
It would likely turn political if I started to go into that. But it is scary to point this out. Congress gave one president the authority to order the execution of anybody, anyplace in the world. (Where did congress get that authority to give away?) The next president used that authority to execute a juvenile american citizen. Any outrage from the population? The reaction from congress? A leader of the
opposing party "Boy should of picked a better father"
To do a search LEO needs permission or "probable cause" May need a warrant, but "probable cause" will let them get the warrant. Many have the attitude "I have nothing to hide, come look." The other side of that, where LEO and judge stand, is "If you don't want me to look, you must have something to hide." And I bet for some that is "probable cause". If the LEO has the warrant, he likely will take ship apart until he finds what you are hiding. So yes, in this country there is a chance if you refuse to let the powers that be "Look around" you will have to put your snot back together.
