It is such a pain to go into a big truck stop and have to go in and give them my credit card. Why can't you use the credit card machine out at the pump?

A few years ago (2013?) Pilot changed the card readers on truck lane pumps to allow VISA to start the pump and pay. I think the maximum VISA transaction is $495, so I can swipe once and fill-up. I still have to go inside once for the receipt.

I do still find exceptions, maybe franchise stores.

I was just speaking about paying at the pumps in the truck lanes, not the car lanes. Many of us have commented that we've found very few truck stops that allow pay-at-the-pump at the truck pumps.

If possible we skip fueling up where you can't pay at the pump with our CC. With our Class C MH's over 500 mile range that's usually an easy skip.

Not being able to pay at the pump with our CC is too much of a dinosaur system for us to tolerate nowdays! We like it convenient and fast while we're also saving 5% off per gallon. 🙂

Since 11/18, Pilot / FlyingJ have been taking AMEX, all others I use MC/VISA at the truck pumps.

You are using a "regular" MC or VISA???

We have put a total of about 120,000 miles on two class-A coaches in 12 yrs. I have never seen where the fuel station takes a regular credit card at the truck pumps.

I have an account with a truck fuel company that I've had for about 4 yrs. now. We receive .10 off of the CASH list price at Loves's and the regular cash price at other stations (Flying J, T/A, etc.). The funds are removed from my checking account at the end of the next business day.

For a receipt, I take a picture of the pump with my i-phone. DEF is charged at the regular cash price.

Before getting the fuel account, I would have to go inside to pay which was such a waste of time.

^^^^ agree 100%, still don't understand the not being able to pay at the truck lanes with a credit card. Put 130,000 on my rig in 2.5 years and have never had a problem getting fuel in the truck lanes and paying at the PUMP. Oh well life is good.

... And with just the right credit card you get 5% (per cent) off every gallon of fuel. That can range from 10-20 cents off every gallon - everywhere where credit cards are accepted for payment at the pump.

It's pretty tough to beat savings and convenience like that, so we use this approach for all of our vehicles all of the time.

A few dollar difference is WELL worth it to me knowing i can pull in and drive right back out with ZERO concern. Even without the MC trailer in tow I use the Truck Stops!
