Mine has been in place for 5 years and thousands of miles. If you are not comfortable with it staying there put it on with some abs/pvc adhesive or even a wrap of Gorilla tape. No reason to ever take it off. I have mine set so it pulls open sideways. First thing I will add if I ever buy a new rig. Should be standard equipment.

I am the OP, and based on what everyone has said, and the fact I don't really want to lay in gravel that has been covered with black water, etc, to attach an extra strap, I think I will take a chance that it will be OK until I get to the next park. I agree with B.O., this valve is now permanent in my current drain system and on all future drain systems.
I have also ordered some TST Drain Valve Lube that will be added to the tanks before I leave here on Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thanks
