URGENT! CALL DirectTV NOW!

DirectTV is negotiating with The Weather Channel and there is a chance DirectTV will no longer carry The Weather Channel.

DirectTV has launched an alternate weather channel on 361. As I told the rep on the phone, I can get weather from many sources, THAT is not the problem. We regularly watch many of the reality shows, Coast Guard Alaska, etc, and they are not on anywhere else.

I told her that if DirectTV drops The Weather Channel we will immediately cancel our service and go to Dish or the local TV cable. If enough people will call in or go on-line and tell them that, they will do whatever is necessary to continue the service!

PLEASE call 1-800-DirectTV. You will first hear a recording that says they are still negotiating with The Weather Channel. At the end of that recording you will hear their main menu. When it asks the purpose of your call say "cancel service". You will then get an attendant.

You can also go on-line at DirectTV.com and register your comments there.

If you feel the same way I do about this, PLEASE do it NOW! Thanks!

Looks like it is on 361 and 362. The TWC info says to tune into 362. :?

Here is an article about the whole thing - 20 million Lose the Weather Channel

I have to admit - the RV.netters reflect the rest of America: Who cares?

We used to watch it when we had a satellite dish, then cable. Since we cut the cord we don't know what they're doing, but it doesn't sound good...

Doesn't matter to me what they do but obviously it is a passionate issue for you, good luck.

I don't have Direct, Dish, or cable. I have never found value in any of them. Now with internet options expanding you will see all those companies struggling to make a profit and I predict some will collapse.

A big plus one to your post, I have gone completely internet TV at home and for my RV, no more monthly bills, just $79 a year for Net Flix and $79 a year for Amazon plus thousands of other free channels and news channels.

For those in the know and up to speed with the times cable/satellite is old school and cost more, lots more.

I don't know how to term their naming of winter storms or Hurricanes for that matter. Winter storm names is all pc bs and silly. i don't care for it.
If Direct TV wants to keep Viewers they better get rid of the rubbish and quit raising prices. No one, no one, watches the home shopping type networks. They are as irritating, as the advertising, or more, so on other networks.
Customers are declining on Cable and Sat. there is no good new programming and the aggravating advertising takes up so much of the air time, people are finding things more appealing, like washing the dishes and painting the house.
They have drained it dry by maximizing income with pervasive advertising. No one watches the ads or practically no one. Couch potatoes have a magazine, in their lap or a smart phone in their hand and simply don't watch the ads. If they, had better programming, such as in the sixties and fifties and only one ad or two at the most they would get more Viewers and possibly the short ads watched. Perhaps Mr Murdock likes to watch the ads and the home shopping channels.

The Weather Channel has gone down hill since NBC bought it. Too bad.
You got that right!

X2++ Stupid cartoon maps...lots of dribble, very little real wx, every little snow shower gets named??? Just dumb. ๐Ÿ˜ž
. For every named storm, you gotta meet a new deductible. I notice there's an insurance company (one in particular) that advertises heavily on TWC.
Ah, well.
If an insurance company tries that gambit with WINTER storms, ***** heavily to your state insurance commissioner. The only entity that matters when it comes to naming storms is the National Weather Service, and they DO NOT name winter storms.

As far as the Weather Channel going away, I say good riddance to bad rubbish. They have so little actual weather programming now they are as useless as teats on a bull.

By the way, isn't it ironic that one of the major investors in WeatherNation is Echostar, who owns DISH Network?

Sounds like most of y'all missed the op's point..... He likes TWC reality shows, that's why he's upset. Pretty sure he like the rest of us know the weather can be gotten from many other sources. I use TWC app on my phone and it's great, I have it set for where I live, where my beach house is and my daughters college.

The WC has gotten so far off base I don't watch unless I'm going to the golf course but usually then they're showing the Coast Guard in Alaska or some guys in an armored car chasing tornadoes. I'm glad the MH has a weather radio since that's the only programming they
broadcast.

I liked TWC back when I had cable in the 90s, it was local and sometimes I'd just leave it on as I built mt RC airplanes. It stopped being local when we switched to Directv and have only checked it once since we switched back to cable. That's when I found out it is more of a discovery channel with some weather sprinkled in.

Since OTA went digital the local channels have secondary channels, one all news, the other all weather. I also have the net, smart phone and if nothing else, good ol NOAA radio. Alerts come over it before the local channels broadcast them meaning we were in the basement when a tornado touched down blocks from us before the news or even the sirens let us know.

With the Soap channel gone, The Weather Channel is my wife's "go to" channel for missed episodes of her favorite soap. She's glad that Dish made their multi-year settlement with TWC awhile back, so it won't be an issue until the next contract renewal. Weather info? We use the Internet for current updates and forecasts...
