If the male end (outlet end) is in the bowl

Two, You have to clean the outside of the hose
Ohe other concern
If the toilet bowl is high enough and the pump fails you can siphon backwards when you disconnect.. or for that matter even if the pump does not fail when you disconnect.
Those are my concerns. Advice I can't give you. As I recall I put it in the bowl ABOVE the water and closed the seat and set a weight on it.
