Vinyl Flooring Split

Just got my TT out of winter storage and found a split in the vinyl floor about 18 inches long from the heat register to the kitchen cabinet. I am looking for ideas to repair this in lieu of replacing the entire vinyl floor.

All ideas appreciated.
  • Same issue with our 2008 Jayco Eagle Travel Trailer, I am guessing it was the extreme cold and how long it lasted, (This is stored in Northern Wisconsin). Mine split in the forward bedroom in front of the shower, across and thru the bathroom right under the toilet. Approx. 2 ft. across. The problem is that I would have to replace all the way around up to were it meets the carpet - NO FUN - Not sure how I want to proceed, my wife wants me to redo it all with carpet. Any thoughts on that approach?
  • I had the same thing happen to our 2007 Wildwood. Have about four long splits and a couple shorter ones. Too many sub-zero days this winter and we forgot to put the Damp Rid bucket in the kitchen sink this past winter...

Figuring will need the local vinyl guys to redo the floor. Too busy now figuring out what to do about the water damage under the curb side edges... :(
  • Find a small piece of flooring in a contrasting color/pattern, cut to a size that looks good (18 inches x 6 inches??), cut out the flooring with the split and put in the small piece. Call it an "enhancement".
  • If it were me I would head down to local flooring dealer and buy leftover piece of vinyl flooring that you like - if your uncomfortable with installing yourselves as the flooring dealer for installer as I suspect his charge wouldn't be much as your install is tiny compared with stick house.
  • Happened to ours also. The winter of 2014 was brutal in indiana! Going to be looking at a rug/runner to cover for now.
  • Floor is not glued. Don't know of any glue or adhesive that will work when it gets extremely cold. Just cut out old floor around the perimeter and use it for a pattern on the new sheet. Lay the new sheet in place without adhesive. Hold it in place around the edges with 1/4 round or other trim...Done.
  • There was another post about this recently with another camper. It sounds like some type of adhesive, rug or replace.
  • Check at a good vinyl shop. There is an adhesive used for joining seams. Has an applicater tip that fits in the seam and slides along as the adhesive is applied. not sure of the name.
  • A split this long will never be able to be repaired. It's time to either throw down a rug over it or replace the floor.
