Volunteer Nature Park Host

Spring Lake Nature Park, near Streator,Illinois,(North Central, IL) has an opening for a volunteer park host(s)from May 1, 2014 through October 31st 2014.

This 37 acre city owned park is operated by congenial volunteers. Singles and couples are welcome. Hosts work 3 or 4 days a week on alternating weeks. No physical labor and no restroom cleaning required. However, hosts who enjoy trail trimming and other physical activities are welcome to join with the park volunteers. Hosts greet park guests, open and close the park gate, and let the public know that the park is being watched. Park guests behave well and are respectful of hosts.

Streator is a small town where you will soon be called by name at your frequent haunts. We are two hours from Chicago with train services a half hour away. Also two hours away is Springfield with all of the wonderful historic Lincoln sites.

Hosts are able to observe deer, wild turkeys, a wide variety of birds, and other wildlife that live in the park. The two host campsites are spacious with full hookups. No public camping is accommodated. An underground tornado shelter is provided for the safety of hosts and their pets. Yes, furry family members are welcome.
