Water pump cycles on/off

Thank you Moore RVers. Im willing to bet that's the same setup/issue have. Now I just have to locate the pump.

I had the same issue with my TT. The pump would run randomly and moan now and then. Then I discovered that the check valve that is supposed to stop city water from going into the freshwater tank was not even installed. This is because there was a repair done by the previous owner and they did not re-install a check valve. so I was getting water in my tank without hooking it up.
I went to Lowes and purchased a check valve and installed it directly into the line the feeds off the pump. Problem solved.

Thank you all for your feedback and knowledge. Now, where is the pump located? and can I access it from inside. I hear it near the shower area.

We also fill up our fresh water tank and use it instead of the city water connection. And we always turn off the pump and water heater when leaving the RV. We also just hook up electric during overnight stops. I cannot imagine hauling all that stuff out for an overnight stop (or multiple overnight stops.)

Just as Old Biscuit says. We also run on tank water only. If there is a leak in the system I want to hear the pump cycle to let me know. Don't want to discover a flood when the damage has been done.

We also have a large water softener that gets used at each fill up. If you are only staying a few nights using your own tank water the hose is one less item that needs to be taken out then put away. Find it quite amusing watching people get the hose out, the sewer out, the shorepower cable out, all for one night. Get the shorepower out & call it done.

Fresh water tank and pump where for when no city water and while traveling

Then early one morning woke up to flooded living room & kitchen
$.50 fitting on water heater failed (cracked from over-tightening).
City water ran for hours while we were asleep.
$6000 PLUS in damages/costs

Fresh water tank and pump only.
Then we can hear if/when pump cycles alerting us to an issue
And we can EASILY turn pump off at switch when we go outside/leave or go to bed

Sure I could walk out to hose bibb and turn city water off but who does that when you are going to bed ?????


As for pump cycling when connected to city water
Sounds like faulty pump pressure switch

More then likely you have a SHurflo Classic 2088 Model water pump....NUWA OEM
That pump was discontinued several years ago.
Any pump or parts for that pump available will be 'NOS' (normal OLD stock) been sitting around for years

Just replace pump with a SHurflo 4008 Model (3 gpm/55 psi)

X2 I have been full time RVing for over 4 years now and never use the city water hook up. I turn the pump on when I need water and shut it off when I dont. No surprises. I have seen my share of water falls coming out of un attended RVs over the years.

There should be a switch on the pump and it should be OFF when city water is connected.
But there also should be some check valves to prevent anything strange from happening if BOTH are active.

If the pump operates normally when IT is the only source of pressue.....then turn it OFF when connected to "city water" and don't worry about it.
