I just had to get some propane tanks filled.
20lb was $10.00 straight up.
30lb was $17.00 straight up.
this seemed like a good price.
The sign was metal with painted cost on it so I know they don't change the price that often.
This was local mom&pops owned propane refueling business and fireplace/grill store.
Just curious?

35 cents per pound in New Holland, PA. That equals $10.50 for a 30# tank.

Just under $20 at Dale Oxygen in Western PA.

They also recertify tanks for $5, MUCH cheaper than $65 for new tanks ๐Ÿ˜‰

My brother gets it for about 60 cents a gallon for a tanker load, I think that's 8000 gallons.

Getting propane cheap when filling 5 gallon and 7 gallon towable tanks is one thing ... but trying to get good pricing when filling built-in motorhome tanks is a different story.

I don't look much at the price of things anymore, I look at how much time I have left to spend what I have.
So big a world, so little time to see.

Here in the Foothills by Yuma, AZ. one place is $2.14 a gallon but good luck finding the joint open. Second place is $2.19 a gallon but you guess when they are open. The third place is $2.29 a gallon and they are open 8 AM thru 2 PM Monday thru Saturday. There is a liquor store downtown and they are $1.69 a gallon.

Thank you. What is that? $1.30 a gallon higher? This guy should be put out of business.
By who? If he has customers, more power to him. If he doesn't, you are right, he will go out of business. But that shouldn't be a decision made by anyone or anything other than the free market.

Prices are what the market will bare I guess?

Around here it costs less to fill the big tanks than small cylinders, per gallon - even though the tanks require a truck roll I guess the margin is smaller but there's so many gallons, they make up for it?

$20 dollars for a 20 pounds cylinder is a rip off, but it's a nice round number and folks think it's a good deal; "wow only $1 a pound neat!"

Why the big range of prices?

Probably from the usual variations in transportation costs, local/state taxes, and of course the normal market forces, supply and demand.
