I am selling my home. I don't know where I am going but I would like to stay in Colorado and buy again maybe in six months but probably a year or more. But, I might go somewhere else. I just don't know. What do I do about an address while I decide? My driver's license doesn't expire for three more years but it does have my current address on it. Should I just go ahead and get one of those mailboxes in town while I can still prove I live here? Then again, how is truck insurance managed? I am waking up with panic attacks every night about 2 a.m. Please help me with information. I suppose I could search it but what if I get old informtion. The world is changing fast and I feel like I am spinning. That isn't good. I need to find a way to calm down and one of the ways is coming here for good information. Thank you.

If you decide in the future, to keep moving, longer term, many establish a domicile in a state that has registration and tax advantages. I would suggest UPS store. That gives you a physical address and mail forwarding type service.

Box suggestion is that a lot of the mailbox places like the UPS stores give you an actual street address with a suite number instead of a box. These addresses look a lot more permanent to the casual observer, especially businesses and services that don't recognize P.O. Boxes as permanent addresses.Are you hitting the road and traveling fulltime, or just moving into the RV for a while? Good luck to you either way.

Both good ideas. You could use a friend or family member's address as the permanent domicile in town also. I like the PO Box option the best since the post office can forward your mail to any USPS location. Research 'general delivery' at their website and also 'informed delivery' as two ways to reduce your anxiety. Then relax- you don't want to be stressed leading up to relaxation, it's counterintuitive. :-)

I second Escapees. By all means keep paper mail to an absolute minimum by paying bills etc on line.

Three votes for Escapees RV Club. If you try the mail box route, make sure it meets the legal requirements for driver's licenses, vehicle registration, voting, and banking in your state before you jump in. Also, many of those places don't offer mail forwarding if you travel.

So if your house appreciated more than $250k in value since you bought it any gains above that $250k will be subject to federal taxation unless you buy another house with the earnings within 2 years. Just something to be aware of.
